what We Do

     We believe that every student has the right to a literate future. As educators and as parents, we know the power of the appropriate assessments coupled with research-based teaching strategies in the hands of knowledgeable teachers. Nothing is more important to the future of a child than receiving effective literacy instruction throughout his or her school career. Unfortunately, the term curricular casualty applies to far too many of our students in every type of school setting.

     Mary and Alicia have spent many years pursuing knowledge in the area of literacy, including 21st century literacy, that builds literate children. As brain-science continues to make breakthroughs that inform teaching, we continue to learn and apply that science. We have taught, trained, and coached in high poverty schools, high-demand schools, and everything in between. We understand what it takes to bring every child success in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, including students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
